When I think about the lessons that we can learn from Moses, I mostly used to consider how God used a person who thought he did not have the spiritual gifts to do what God asked of him. Yet, God provided him with all that he needed to serve because it was God’s plan for him. As I am reading about Moses again, I am in awe of the incredibly personal relationship that he had with God. God and Moses were in a constant conversation. Could you imagine if we went about our ministry in a similar manner? Through the power of prayer and the answers in God’s Word, God gives us that same opportunity.
Called to Serve
Moses was definitely one of the first people in the Bible that I identified with. Way back in my years as a high school youth leader, I was concerned that I did not have the skills that I needed because I felt that I was not very good with words. How could my mathematical mind serve God? In reality, God provided me with the skills that He saw fit, but I think those feelings of inadequacy are common for servants of God, both young and old.
Moses of the Bible Activities
How can you teach your students about the story of Moses? If you are a kindergarten teacher, there are five Bible activities to go along with the story of Moses. First-grade students can create a flip book, a craftivity, and a worksheet about Moses. There is also a set of twelve centers about Moses and the Exodus for second graders. Fourth-grade students have an entire project-based learning unit about the stories of Moses. This story can also be found in the no-prep packets for early childhood to sixth grade as well as the Google slides for third to sixth grade.
