Book of Judges in the Bible provides us with examples of power, promises, and truth. First, we have Deborah, a powerful woman of spiritual and political strength. Gideon gives us proof of God’s promises that he requested as he prepared to serve. We can stand on the truths found in the book of Judges as we learn more about this special book. The book of Judges teaches us about some of the greatest leaders in the Bible.
Biblical Superheroes
This is not a common book in the Bible. My students who know every fact of Genesis and Exodus are often unfamiliar with many of the stories in Judges. In order to help them connect with these people in the Bible, I have nicknamed them superheroes. These unique stories teach the transition from Moses’ leadership in Exodus to the earthly kings we learn about later in the Old Testament.
Book of Judges in the Bible
How do you give your students a book of Judges summary? Personally, my students love the project-based learning unit called God’s Superheroes. It includes 12 days of lesson plans for a complete book of Judges timeline. In addition, I also have Google Slides and no-prep packets. These make great activities for early finishers or are wonderful for substitute lesson plans. They are also easy to send home with a quarantined student. Sometimes, I use them in place of my project-based learning units to switch up my instructional strategies.
