I homeschool my boys so we rely on our local library for a lot of things! Everyone gets their “fun books” there as well as anything they might need for a research project or paper. Other errands can be rescheduled, but every Tuesday afternoon is library day, and we rarely miss. Needless to say, we’ve gotten to know our librarians on a first name basis. The boys chat with them for awhile when I am checking out, and they’re always interested to hear what’s going on in our house. When our church put out stacks of fliers inviting people to our Easter worship service, my sons were insistent that we take some to our library helpers. It made me smile to see them eagerly asking their friends to come celebrate the resurrection of Jesus with them.

Witnessing for Jesus
It made me wonder about some ideas I could give them for how to talk about Jesus with people they meet. First, act differently like a Christian which means looking different from the people around you. Make people wonder about you and why you don’t do things the way others do. Second, just tell the story. Sometimes we can get tongue-tied and nervous when we try to explain everything we believe in one conversation. But when we stick to the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection the words flow much easier. Third, invite them to church. Give them a way to follow up on what you have just shared with them. When they are in church hearing God’s Word, the Holy Spirit will continue to work in their heart.
Great Fifth Grade Curriculum
Witnessing for Jesus is just one of the topics covered in Teach by Faith’s Bible curriculum for fifth grade. You’ll also study worship, leading a Bible study, the sacraments, the Lord’s Prayer, Advent and much more. The units are each written in an exciting project-based learning format.
