Bible teaching on faith can expand past the foundations of Scripture to Lutheran theology. While some might find it challenging to teach Lutheran theology to upper elementary students, the teachings are truly rooted in the core of the Scriptures on faith. How can we make it relatable to tweens? These key parts of faith in the Bible have a place for all students.
Lutheran Theology for Non-Lutherans
I started creating these resources when I was teaching fifth grade. First, I wanted options to help my non-Lutheran students understand the importance of the Reformation. Second, I wanted something that would benefit my students who had studied the Bible and my students who had never opened a Bible before stepping into my classroom. Finally, I wanted to make Lutheran theology relatable and applicable to their lives.
Bible Teaching on Faith for Lutheran Theology
Are you looking for a complete curriculum for your upper elementary students? I started out by creating project-based learning units for nine areas of the Lutheran faith. I added memory activities for a year-long list of Bible verses. Then, I developed lapbooks about the important days in the church year. I also included one to explain the Lutheran beliefs on baptism. During the pandemic, I made Google slides on ten parts of the Bible for distance learning. Currently, I use them for early finishers in my classroom. Finally, I created a no-prep packet for Martin Luther and the Reformation.
