Celebrate the Epiphany this season to teach your students about the service and faith of wise men. The wise men teach us to walk out in faith to follow a star. We can also take prayerful steps as we follow wherever Jesus leads us. They also bring purposeful gifts and offer them out of sacrifice to this new King. How much more should we live our lives as living sacrifices? I had never considered this last lesson from the Epiphany. As the wise men travel to Jesus, the entire region is in shock and mourning at the deaths of all the young males. Yet, they continue on in pursuit of Jesus. They don’t let anything keep them from Him, and neither should we.
Dia de Los Reyes
The Epiphany is an integral part of Christianity, but it isn’t wildly popular outside of those circles in the United States. My first memorable experience with the day was actually as a Spanish teacher. Dia de los Reyes is a special part of Hispanic culture. From that, I realized that my students rarely studied this important day as a part of their Biblical studies.
Celebrate the Epiphany
Depending on the age of your students, you may be considering Epiphany lessons in different ways. You could use a mini book that explains the overview of this topic in simple text with pictures that students can color. Maybe your students are a little older, and you want an activity to decorate those bare halls after the break. A craftivity with a writing component might be perfect for you. You could also use a flip book to hang in the hall. Perhaps you have upper elementary students and are looking for a more detailed lesson in a lapbook. Finally, you might be a middle school teacher, and you are searching for some sketch notes for your students.
