I think all kids love books of some kind or other. My children have loved looking at picture books since they were small and now that my big boys are reading classic novels, I still find them stealing my youngest’s picture book haul from the library for a little quick reading before bed. There are some things for which you are never too old! Books are a great way to teach Bible stories to young children. Here are five of my favorites that you might find useful in your classroom!

Great Resources
The Jesus Storybook Bible is a family favorite. I love how it weaves all the Bible stories together into one big story of God’s salvation rather than separating them into stand alone stories. Who doesn’t love Arch Books!? Teachers have been relying on these little gems for years. New ones are continually being published so be sure to add to your classroom’s collection! This Follow and Do series from CPH is a wonderful introduction to the catechism for young children. The words are simple yet profound. The fourth isn’t technically a book, but it compliments Bible lessons so well that I feel it fits. Steve Green’s Hide ‘Em In Your Heart albums teach Bible verses set to sweet simple tunes that are fun to listen to over and over again.
Teaching Bible Stories from the Bible
The fifth resource is Teach by Faith’s Bible Lesson Curriculum for first grade. You will find so many wonderful things in this bundle! There are Bible lessons and memory activities for a whole year. Your class will be able to make and read mini books for every special church holiday from Advent to Easter and everything in between. There is even a special unit on the Reformation! Dive into the Bible with your first-grade class this year with this one-of-a-kind curriculum!
