7 Powerful Steps to Develop Bible Study Discussion Questions

Bible study discussion questions can be developed by children. As teachers, we spend a great deal of time developing lessons to teach the Bible stories. However, it is important for students to learn to study the Bible on their own. Bible study can obviously provide many life lessons to build character and shape the faith of students. When we teach students to study the Bible outside of the classroom, they take ownership of their faith. This can help encourage them to become future leaders in the church. What a powerful reason to teach students how to lead a Bible study!

Creating Bible Studies in the Classroom

I loved using this resource in the classroom. I was amazed at how well the students did at writing their own Bible study. They were confident in being able to lead the studies for their peers. It was such a fantastic experience to observe.

Bible Study Discussion Questions

Would you like to help your students develop a Bible study? These seven steps will help you guide them to lead a Bible study on their own. First, they will select a topic to study. This could be a Bible story or Scripture references about a character trait. Next, they will read about their topic. They should take notes about details that they find interesting, lessons they could apply, and facts to teach the story. Then, they should write questions for their Bible study.

After that, students can work with a partner to revise their questions. They should make sure that the questions are understandable to their partner. Next, students should take time to create a fellowship for their Bible study by preparing an icebreaker and signing up to bring treats. They should also practice leading their Bible study. Finally, they can write a prayer to close out the Bible study. You should allow for about a week for students to lead their Bible studies. You could do this in small groups for a large class size.
