A coloring page of Palm Sunday can be helpful to teach your students why Palm Sunday is important. The Palm Sunday story remembers the day when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey like a triumphant king. The Palm Sunday scripture reminds us that God’s plan for Jesus was far greater than we could see. While we looked for an earthly king to fight our battles, God sent His Son to conquer our spiritual battles and deliver us into eternal life.
Waving Palm Branches
I was an adult before I worshipped in a church where children walked down the aisles waving palm branches on Palm Sunday. However, I have always loved the tradition. I think that it is a wonderful way to let children have an interactive role in the worship experience. In addition, I love to see all of the adults with palm crosses displayed in their cars following Palm Sunday.
More than Just a Coloring Page of Palm Sunday
If you are here for a free Palm Sunday Coloring Page, find it here. However, I have so many options to help you teach Palm Sunday. Your students could try out a mini book or a flipbook. I love the Palm Sunday craftivity that allows them to display their knowledge on a bulletin board display. Of course, older students need options for Palm Sunday as well. Upper elementary students will learn more details about Palm Sunday with an interactive lapbook. Middle school students might enjoy sketch notes. If you are looking for an easy bulletin board for your middle school classroom, the Palm Sunday Subway Art is easy to prepare and display.
