An Advent lesson for youth can help your students understand the moments of preparation for Jesus’ birth. As we reflect on God’s word, we see Mary enter a time of simple waiting as she trusted God’s plan for her. Then, we see Zechariah, who had all of this education and training, question God and ask for proof. How different are their responses!
Mary or Zechariah?
Do you identify more as Mary or Zechariah? While I wish I was a Mary, I often find that I am more like Zechariah. In the midst of the busy Advent season, I don’t find myself patiently waiting for my Lord and Savior. Instead, I question how I can fit all of the celebrations of the season into my busy schedule. Shouldn’t I really be focused on the true celebration of Christmas?
Advent Activities for Youth
There are ten great Advent activities for youth to use in your classroom. Teachers can use an easy mini book or flipbook to summarize the story for young elementary students. Students can make a bulletin board to close out the year with a craftivity project. Upper elementary students can learn more details through the use of an interactive lapbook.
