A Holy Week Bible study begins by better understanding the events that happen during this important time. Students can read and discuss sections from the book of Mark to learn about Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, his Last Supper with his disciples, his trial before the Sanhedrin, and his crucifixion on Good Friday. All of this culminates on Easter with his glorious resurrection from the dead to conquer death and our sins.
Reckless Love
Have you ever heard of the song Reckless Love by Cory Asbury? It is one of my absolute favorite songs, and I have played it so many times that all of my students have memorized it. It reminds us of the reckless love that Jesus had for us as he died on the cross for our sins as we remember in John 3:16. With this reckless love, our life is full of mercy and forgiveness, and we are free to give thanks by cultivating the same kind of sacrificial love in our lives.
Holy Week Bible Study
Engage your students in a variety of Bible study activities during Holy Week. Read the account of Jesus’ death from the Gospels and lead them through a project-based learning activity that goes through the details of Holy Week. Let students explore the importance of Easter as they study the resurrection of Jesus. Students can draw or write about the different moments of Holy Week. The activities allow each student to illustrate their understanding in a tangible way.
