How to Crack the Code of God’s Commands

If you grew up going to a Lutheran school, there is a pretty good chance you learned the Ten Commandments at an early age. By second or third grade I could spout off God’s commands at the drop of a hat, but it wasn’t until I had to teach them that I really took the time to understand the commandments and their meanings on a deeper level. They say to really understand something you have to teach it!

Many Questions!

My third son’s favorite word is “why”. Most toddlers ask why quite frequently, but he is eight and has not outgrown his love of the word! When we discuss the commandments during family devotions, I barely finish reading the commandment before he is ready with his question. “Why does it mention man servants?” “What are satanic arts?” “Why are there two questions about coveting?” And every parents’ personal favorite, “What does sexually pure mean?” So together we dive deep into God’s will for us and explore the ins and outs of the commandments each getting a better understanding of what God wants and expects of his people.

Ten Commandments Escape Room

Maybe you’ve already taught God’s commands to your students, and you’re looking for a way to help them learn more and discover how to live them instead of simply saying them. This fun but thought-provoking game will do that! Modeled after the popular escape room attractions, your students can work alone or in small groups digging into God’s Word to solve puzzles and explore Scripture. It’s perfect for a fourth to sixth grade class.
