Previously I wrote about our culture’s love of new trends. I’m sure from the day this was published to the day you are reading it, we have seen the rise and fall of several fads. One of the reasons people chase fads is to experience the emotional high that such products promise. We are happiness chasers because if we ever stop chasing it, we tend to swing hard to the opposite extreme, falling into depression and despair over the hopeless state of our broken world. But those trends never give the lasting happiness they promise. It’s a never ending search for something to make us feel at peace.
Lutheran Schools Are Different
Our Lutheran schools aren’t built on the ever changing trends of the world. They are built on the firm foundation of God’s Word. Instead of constantly swinging from happiness to despair, our schools can teach students to walk confidently in the forever joy that is ours through the death and resurrection of Jesus. This joy lasts even when happiness fades or sadness threatens to overwhelm us. This kind of character building is what makes Lutheran school different from any other. We celebrate Lutheran schools because they teach our children to live in God’s story, the only one that gives peace.
