Do you so through Lent devotional books with your students or family? I’ll admit it’s not as conventional as Advent devotions, but they can be just as meaningful as those traditionally done in the month of December. It takes a little bit more work to commit to forty days of devotions rather than the twenty-four that lead to Christmas. But time in God’s Word is never wasted, and, who knows, maybe by the end you’ll be ready to make daily devotions a year-long habit!

Lent Traditions
I’ve done many different Lent devotions with my children over the years. One year we put together a mobile hanging a picture to mark the passing of each day. Another year we moved a Jesus figure along a road toward Jerusalem that ended at the cross. My sons always enjoy devotions where we can add a link to a chain each day and watch it get longer and longer. If you’re doing devotions with children, it’s always nice to have something they can touch and handle to bring the message home in a tactile way.
Lent Devotional
Which makes these Lent devotions for families perfect for this special season! They work very well in a classroom or home setting. Each of the 40 days of Lent features a unique devotion and a picture to color and glue to a chart to track the days until Easter. The chart can be easily laminated for use year after year. These devotions are also a great tool to send home with your students to help make daily devotions a habit in every house!
