When I was younger my family and I took a couple trips to Disney World. Even if you’ve never had the chance to make it to the happiest place on earth, I’m sure you know how fun but exhausting these trips can be. Amongst all the happy memories are the memories of waiting so many minutes in line! But as any Disney veteran will tell you, Disney lines aren’t exactly like other amusement park lines. The clever designers set up activities for the guests to do as they move toward the attraction. Maybe it will be a fun video to watch, trivia questions to answer, seek and find games, anything to keep their patrons minds off of waiting. We like to be kept busy!
The Great Commission
In a way, Jesus was like those clever Disney architects. Before he ascended into heaven after his resurrection, Jesus gave the disciples a job to do, something to help them pass the time so they wouldn’t stand staring at the sky for too long waiting for Jesus to come back. We call it the Great Commission. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” The disciples’ job was to tell the story of Jesus to every person they possibly could. That’s our job too! Who in your life needs to hear about the death and resurrection of Jesus? It’s time to get busy!
