Adam and Eve in the Bible

In the beginning, Adam and Eve were the perfect humans. God gave them a perfect garden in which to live and a job to do. And they were charged with the care of creation. But we all know what happened. Not content with the role God had given them, they reached for something more and brought everything crashing down with them. From Adam and Eve, we learn our role in creation. We are to be stewards of everything God has made. But we also learn about God’s love and forgiveness. Because the Savior he promised to Adam and Eve in the garden is our Savior too.

In the Beginning

My middle son loves reading, but he can’t stand starting a book without knowing what’s going to happen at the end. Because of this, he will read the last few pages of the book before he starts “just to get an idea what he’s in for,” but it will drive him crazy because it doesn’t make a lot of sense when you haven’t read the start of the book! Because if you don’t know the beginning of the story, the middle and the end become confusing and bewildering. So, the story of Adam and Eve gives us our beginning. Through their creation and fall, we learn that we are God’s creatures created in his image but broken by sin and in need of a Savior.
