Four Unique Advent Chapel Skits for School Chapel

Do you have a favorite part about getting ready for Christmas? My husband loves putting up the outside lights. We are by no means an extravagant Christmas display house that inspires those passing by to drive by slowly, but our several strings of white lights that follow our roof line make the living room windows glow and give a cozy feel to the front room. I’m a baker so I love the cookie and candy aspect of the holiday while my sons love buying presents! They will head into all the weirdest stores in the mall in the hopes of finding just the right thing for brothers with interests that are a bit off the beaten path. Online shopping requires careful reading off all reviews and long discussions about which is the correct color of flashlight for Dad.

A Season for Preparing

All these preparations can be a lot of fun, but it’s important we don’t get too caught up in the extras and forget to prepare our hearts. Advent is a season of reflection and repentance as we remember our need for a Savior. We head to the Jordan River with the crowds and hear John the Baptist’s cry, “Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” We prepare the way of the Lord in the wilderness of our sinful lives.
