Bible verse memory practice helps students grow in the knowledge of God’s Word. It equips them with Scripture that provides comfort, encouragement, and direction for different aspects of life. Teaching student to memorize Bible verses benefits them for an eternity.
Memory During Distance Learning
A few years ago, a student asked me if I had memory practice for her like I assigned daily spelling practice for homework. While I didn’t at the time, that was the catalyst for the creation of my Bible verse memory practice. As we prepare for the potential of distance or blended learning in the fall, it will be a great resource to send home to help students become more familiar with Scripture while at home.

How to Help Your Students Memorize Scripture at Home
At the beginning of the year, I print off the list for the parents to keep at home with a little reminder stating that the weeks may be adjusted for Christmas program practice or a special verse. Then, I print and cut all of the small sheets that will be stapled into their planners each week. For distance learning, you could make a second copy of the master list for students to keep in their folders.
Then, I would make packets of the four pages for each week. At a minimum level, these can be given to students as optional practice for memory. There are assessment sheets that can be used in school, but students could also record videos for Google Classroom using Screencastify. Finally, there are pages to create a memory book for the classroom. I usually save up enough weeks and then have the entire class each work on a different page.
If you are interested in learning more, I have these resources available for second through fifth, and coming soon, first grade. I also have coloring pages for preschool and kindergarten. Check them out in my store!
