The theologian Jaroslav Pelikan once said, ““If Christ is risen, nothing else matters. And if Christ is not risen-nothing else matters.” The resurrection of Jesus changes everything! Easter gives us meaning and purpose in this life, and a sure and certain hope of our resurrection on the Last Day. Obviously, Easter is a day that changed the world in a profound way. Teach your students to celebrate this day with every single part of their being using these Easter Bible story resources.
Jesus Triumphs Over Death
When my second son was little, I remember walking with him around our neighborhood and finding a clearly deceased black bird lying on the side of the road with its feet up in the air. I saw my son turn to me with big, worried eyes and, being only three, ask, “Is he sleeping, Mommy?” I stumbled around for a few minutes trying to soften the harsh realities of the world for him. Finally, I came up with the very helpful, “He might be!” My son looked slightly surprised and replied, “Oh! Ok. I just thought he was dead.”
Apparently, I had a problem looking mortality in the face, while my three-year-old did not. Easter does that for Christians because when Jesus rose, he triumphed over death. The grave lost its grip on Jesus, and it will not be able to hold us forever either.
