The first article of the creed tells us that God is the creator. That is such a loaded title because he creates but also sustains his creation. Which means, He is not an absent God or one content to let the world run after simply getting it started. No, he continues to care for his creation even today and promises one day to restore it fully. And this is the God who tells us about himself in the creation account. So read and study it with your students today!

God Creates and Sustains
G. K. Chesterton once said, “For grown-up people are not strong enough to exult in monotony. But perhaps God is strong enough to exult in monotony. Isn’t it possible that God says every morning, “Do it again” to the sun; and every evening, “Do it again” to the moon. It may not be automatic necessity that makes all daisies alike; it may be that God makes every daisy separately, but has never got tired of making them. Maybe He has the eternal appetite of infancy; for we have sinned and grown old, and our Father is younger than we.” I love this quote because it reinforces the fact that without God’s continued care, the world would cease to exist. What an endlessly creative and loving God we have!
